a shameless plug for a friend of mine, odile van der stap - known to some of you perhaps as jumei on deviantart! she recently started up a webshop, Moineau, from which i purchased this lovely bicycle necklace (as a dutchie, biking is practically my religion). i love how the delicate, stylish and tasteful aesthetic you can find in her art translates into the things she offers through the webshop, and i’m really proud of her for setting it up and really going for it, so that’s why i feel i must share it with all of you. check her shop out: facebook | website !
she is actually one of two of my good friends to recently start up a web shop, so expect another plug coming up soon, haha. i’ll do my best to post up some art in the meantime as well ;) but now i must get back to my rabid, deeply unhealthy addiction to The Wire. long live TV show marathoning!
Allright, so I told you guys I’d be doing another online-store-plug for a close friend of mine! This time it’s for my friend Marisa Manso (my best pal since I was 15), a painter living in New York who also makes beautiful handmade silver jewelry which she sells through her new online shop Metal and Myth. It’s lovely, unique, one-of-a-kind stuff with a lovely handmade touch and the person who makes them is amazing, awesome, wonderful, talented etc etc. Not only is she a great artist and jewelry maker but she also knows how to strike a pose, don’t you think? Check out her store or facebook, it’s absolutely worth it! I’m now the proud owner of these two rings but there’s a lot more to choose from!
The ebook is now up for sale on Amazon. It can be read off of any computer and device with the Kindle app. If you’re not sure you want it, give the free sample a try. It’s only $0.99 and it’s a quick read.
saw this pic of Clara Benjamin a while back and had to draw it as soon as i got some free time. just a super quick doodle that doesn’t do the original any justice :b i think it’s just one of the most beautiful portrait photos i’ve ever seen! sorry i haven’t been posting more, i’ve been working at guerrilla games in amsterdam for the last few weeks and it’s been wild :)
for those who didn’t see my previous post: for this book, over 100 different artists will be contributing their own unique version of the ideal male/female. the goal is to have a book with many different interpretations and stylistic approaches to the same theme, intended as reference material for other artists. i think it’s a great concept and i’m so flattered to be working on this alongside so many awesome and accomplished artists!
a portrait of my boyfriends’ brothers’ girlfriend (even though none of us are married i informally refer to her as my sister-in-law), for the front of her birthday card! she’s one of the kindest people i know. we were recently talking about how annoying it is when people tell you to smile which is why i added the sub-text :)
